Jeff Randolph Scholarship Program

We are Orange County-based writers, editors, content strategists, graphic designers, Web and Intranet page information designers, instructional designers, students, and others whose work involves making technical information understandable and available to those who need it.


To assist students who are pursuing an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate program in some aspect of technical communication.


Of course there a few ground rules. Gotta have 'em.


Two awards of $500 are available for the 2022–2023 academic year (Aug 2022–June 2023).

Application Timeline

The scholarship selection committee will evaluate applicants on their academic records, their experience with technical communication, and their potential for contributing to the profession of technical communication.

Applicants will be notified of committee decisions by May 31, 2022 and will be announced publicly after a vote by the OCSTC Council.

Application Procedure

Download and complete the OCSTC Jeff Randolph Scholarship Application Form. Download the document and complete it on your computer or tablet. Please don't request edit access to the Google doc.

Email your completed application and all support materials (transcript and letters of recommendation) directly to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with “[Your Name]- Scholarship Application” as the subject line.

Note: Only completed applications with all support materials will be considered. Applicants should not send samples of work, as samples will not be reviewed by the committee.

Support Materials

The completed application must be accompanied by the following:

  1. A copy of the latest transcript from the school currently or last attended. Official or unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
  2. Scanned letters of recommendation from two professionals; at least one must be from a faculty member. Letters must be dated within one year of application and ink signed. 
  3. Essay (prompt can be found at the end of the application form).
