Spotlight Awards

Southern California Technical Documentation Competition

The Spotlight competitions reward outstanding efforts in the technical communications field. Entries are judged against standards set by The Society for Technical Communication (STC). Winners at the highest level are automatically entered in STC's international competition.

The 2011–12 Spotlight Awards ended with the awards banquet on January 28. Planning for the 2012–13 Spotlight Awards will begin soon. Stay tuned!

This competition provides you with an opportunity to showcase your talent as a writer and rewards outstanding efforts in the technical communication field. Entries are judged against standards set by STC. Winners at the highest level are automatically entered in STC's international competition. If you are interested in receiving valuable feedback on your recent publications and gaining recognition for your hard work, plan for your entry now!

We are looking for competition volunteers, especially a judging manager, and judges. As a volunteer, you’ll build your professional network, gain leadership experience, and make a significant contribution to the Southern California STC community. As a judge, you’ll see some of the best work in technical communication, help to set the standards for excellence in our profession, and add prestigious experience to your résumé. The awards were presented on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Spotlight Awards Banquet in San Juan Capistrano. The evening featured keynote speaker Sharon Burton and a presentation of all of the award-winning entries.
